The Fealty system has been disabled while we consider some alternate approaches. Games with Fealty enabled will not change, but you will no longer be able to enable the feature in your custom games.
In all games without Fealty enabled, players will be awarded Victory Points for each star they command when the game ends!
In 64 player games where there are always 1024 stars, players will receive 1 VP per star. In smaller games players will X Victory Points per star where X is 1024 divided by the number of stars in the galaxy.
We may need to reset the Leaderboards once we are happy with how we are awarding Victory Points.
You can now configure a game reduce the number of stars required to win over time.
This will help games draw to a close in tough battles where only slow progress can be made. The number of stars required to win is reduced on production. Players can configure how many less stars are required each day in their custom games.
The next 64 player game will start with a 12 star per production decay as a test.
Google recently discontinued the technology that Neptune's Pride was built on. This forced me to rewrite the server.
I took the opportunity to improve some features for the popular 64 player games. Everything is experimental, we can roll back these new features at any time. Send me your feedback!
Players are now awarded 1 VP for every Star they command at the end of the game. It pays to hold on to your stars as long as you can!
We now save how many VPs you are awarded every game and we are working on some Leaderboards and Annual Tournaments.
Banking and Experimentation have been changed so they will continue to be important into the late game. Scanning and Range have been rolled together to be a single tech, you can always jump as far as you can see. Warp Gate travel speed is now a function of range tech, so the more range you have, the faster you travel. Terraforming is disabled by default so that the difference between stars remains interesting. Manufacturing is tweaked a little. Read more about the New Tech.
When creating a custom game, you can disable any of these new technologies, enable Terraforming and split Range and Scanning if you want to.
The Ledger and Wormholes have been ported across from Proteus. The Alien Race Strength and Weaknesses are also now standard.
The AI is still very simple. More work will be done in the coming months.
